Freedom To Shine – Genext Students adopts two villages to spread quality education
Aug 11th, 2017
With our vision to impact lives by facilitating easier access to quality learning, we launched a campaign called ‘Freedom to Shine’. As part of the campaign, we have adopted two villages, Kharpale & Palas, situated in Raigad, Maharashtra and will conduct teaching sessions, led by our Tutors. These two villages have been selected following months of extensive research conducted on the delivery of education in the country’s rural areas.
Genext Tutorpreneurs will visit these villages to teach students English and offer lessons on other subjects, over a period of time. The lessons, combining technology and classroom-based learning, will be conducted through weekly sessions of 6-8 hours and will focus on offering foundational learning to students and strengthening their core concepts in elementary subjects. In addition, Tutorpreneurs will also assist teachers who are already teaching in the schools to adopt newer teaching methods and tools for their lessons. Genext Students eventually envisions adopting more such villages in and around the city and bringing interactive learning to their schools.
Ali Asgar Kagzi, Co-founder, Genext Students sums up the campaign brilliantly: “Our mission through the Freedom to Shine campaign is to reach out to the highly under-served rural areas of the country. Technology-only solutions will not help solve the problems here. What is needed is a blended approach combining technology and in-person support. Our ‘Tutorpreneurs’ will not only empower the students in these schools but will also train the local teachers with the latest educational tools which will help them access information easily and make learning more interactive for children.”
The sessions started on 2nd August 2017 with basic English vocabulary which was conducted by Ms. Uma & Mr. Arun, both of whom were among the few who are shortlisted from a pool of 5000+ tutors registered on our platform. They were trained to adapt their teaching techniques so as to suit the learning needs of the students in these villages beforehand, and were also provided with supplementary learning materials.
All the sessions till date are highly appreciated by the students as well as the teachers currently teaching in the schools. Follow us on social media for regular updates about this campaign.
